Adding a Lowrance Elite 5 DSI to the PA. What seems to work best in the batterie department. Smallest, lightest, best location etc.? Any help, suggestions, pics of installation would be appreciated. |

I am planning going with a 12 Volt deer feeder battery. I picked up my last one at Tractor Supply but almost any outdoors store has them. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Hunting/ ... t104354280 |

u want a 12v battery from radio shack they are about 30$ (same type they use in deer feeders) and stick it in the rear hatch tray by cutting out the dividers with a razor...I run that battery for days and it fits snug in that tray best place.. |

Hobie has a new battery tray that fits in the rear hatch or can be mounted inside the kayak. Really works great. |

Has anyone used the battery that Hobie sells with their Fishfinder Installation Kit II? If so, is it worth purchasing the Kit or am I better off trying to piece it together myself? |

The kit is good as all needed parts and supplies come with it. You might be able to get the parts elsewhere but it is time vs money. I saved time, any I think a couple bucks. |

I got a sealed 12v 7aH battery at an RV store for about $25. I bungee it to the sail post, where it fits nicely and is easily removed at the end of the day. I have my fishfinder mounted in the sail post and the transducer mounted through the hull right there, as well. |

I really like the battery battery holder that can go underneat the sail mount or fits in the twist n seal hatch. I think that's where I'll end up putting my battery in the rear hatch of my PA14. I wonder if I'll be able to also run lights off of the same battery or if I'll need to add a second battery for any other electronics I install. |

I bought this battery setup last year from kayakfishingsupplies.com and have been very pleased. There's lots of power to run my Humminbird 587 HD ci DI unit, and I just added some blue LED lights under the sideboards. The battery case makes it easy to transport and store and provides some protection from corrosion and accidental impact. http://www.kayakfishingsupplies.com/servlet/the-238/Battery-Box-Complete-Power/Detail ![]() |

I use a 18ah(I think) 12 volt battery from batteries plus. Put it is a rubbermaid food container from walmart with a cam clamp to seal it up. I have mine in the hole under the seat. Just sits on a rubber drawer/tool box liner and this is enough where it doesn't move. |
