Hello, I'm new here. I took delivery of a shiny new 2013 PA 14 last weekend. I bought it at Quest Watersports in Ottawa, IL, where they took excellent care of me. I've only had the boat out twice so far, and I'm absolutely delighted with it. I even caught a 14" smallmouth from it, which was a real treat - catching a strong fish is a very different experience when it can swim under you! I have about zero experience with kayaks, or boats in general for that matter. That said, I've found one thing about it that I consider rather odd, and that's the placement of the paddle clip. ![]() With the paddle clipped in there (and possibly even without it), the clip will be in the way of the molded-in rod holder. This isn't a big deal, as I don't expect to get much use out of those rod holders, but it seems like a weird place to put it when everything else on the boat has clearly had a lot of thought put into good design. Anyhow, hello! |

That looks like the paddle holder has been installed in the wrong position from the factory - we made some assembly errors early on when we switched over to this new paddle clip design. It should be in the forward position (where your shock cord now dead ends) - easy solution, just swap the clip and pad eye and you're all set. I'll take a new photo for you and post in shortly. |

Ah, I see. Excellent, thank you. Now I know what I'm doing after work tonight. ![]() That is, assuming I don't take 'er out fishing instead! |

That is not the paddle clip my 2013 PA 14 came with. This actually seems more functional. Mine came with a taco clip mounted to the paddle (Literally screwed into the paddle) ![]() Anyone have suggestions? |

BigRedObsession wrote: Does that paddle clip come with all new PA's? Or is this an accessorie? It came with mine. Swapping its location with the pad eye was simple - they just unscrew. I feel like a dork. I was envisioning a difficult bit of contortion inside the hull. |

Hmmm...I'll have to look into this. My taco clip that came on my PA sucks. I have to bungee it on so it won't fall off. The Velcro ain't worth a (censored). |

I have the taco clip also. I'm guessing we all have first run 2013's. The paddle holder shown in this thread looks like one of the new Summer 2013 accessories I had my eye on but didn't pull the trigger because I would have installed it just like the thread starter did and giving up a rod holder was not an option for me. I was going to attempt to unscrew it off the paddle and drill it into the side of the hull like how you hold a paddle on the Revolution but changed my mind. JB, is there a exchange program for the taco clip owners? |

I got my paddle clips yesterday and installed them. I said them I have a PA 12, I put 1 on each side. If you have a 14 you can put the other half in the front hatch. Works great. |

I don't use my paddle very often, but it was poorly thought out and limits how I use my paddle. I most keep the paddle broken down on board and only break it out if I am too shallow to peddle. |
