The bungee that comes with the PA on the back is great for universal use. I need to customize mine a bit for fishing coolers, boxes, and different layouts depending on what I plan to use it for that day (freshwater, inshore, big fish, little fish, live bait, hot days, cold days, . . . .). Also want to modify the bungee on anchor trolley. I use a Yak Attack PNP and the rings are a bit too small.

Anyone have a good source for hog rings out of stainless steel for 1/4" bungee? I fish inshore and saltwater and anything but stainless is going to not be good midterm.

Hi Alan!

I took the stock cargo area shock cord off both my PAs and put them aside as I wanted to make custom shock cords for different applications and needs. Hook1 sells just about everything you need related to making shock cords setups. Here's are the direct links. http://kayakfishinggear.com/bungeeandbu ... cts_1.aspx and http://kayakfishinggear.com/anchorsanda ... ories.aspx

I like the black nylon rings versus a metal or stainless steel one. They would be quieter against the hull in my opinion. The folks at Hook1 have shock cord in multiple colors and more than one diameter. They also sell a stainless steel ring as well. Post some pictures of your rigging when you get it done.

You may get some ideas from these topics:

You can make a serviceable hog ring from heavy copper wire -- better results if you loop and twist the ends to tighten and trim. Copper holds up reasonably well in a marine environment -- Hobie used it for many years on the idler cable with the V-1 Mirage Drives. For single bungee, you can do a small overhead knot at the bitter end and stabilize with a small flame if desired. Trim just beyond the knot and it will fit in the fittings used in the links above. 8)
