Post subject:  Miragedrive Chain Assembly Issues

I am curious if anyone else is having issues with the Miragedrive Chain Assy part number 81202001. I have two Outbacks and have managed to break both of them in the exact same spot within a span of a few years. The issue I have is that the cable keeps coming out of the cable to chain adapter. I do not want to buy another one for $75 for it to happen again. Any solutions out there?

I don't think we have seen an unusual spike in failures.

The cable attachment points are the weak link as this is where the flexible parts meet a rigid part. Unfortunately, chains are a wear item like belts, tire and hoses in a car... They don't last forever.

V2 is better as the flex points are buffered from the rigid ends.

As far as value... $75.00? The most expensive one we have is about $54 (V1) and $39.99 for a V2 version. We start with stainless links and labor involved in making these chains with the flexible cable attachments. A good bike chain is only a bit less expensive and MUCH more simple to make.
