I'm thinking about getting a blackpack for my PA. Do you have one if so what do you think about it on the PA

I do use one. It does protect your stuff from the elements but is not water tight. Jackson just came up with a water tight version but I don't particular care for the brand nor their box. If I want something like that I rather get a cooler vs paying $190 for it, plus mold and fungus can become an issue. My Black Pak is so convenient and spacious and you can customize the outside by adding U bolts to hold your pliers and additional accessories. You can install the rail tracs on top and the sky is the limit as what you can do with it. Image

it wasn't designed to be watertight, but more to be a storage vessel for Plano type waterproof trays/boxes and a accessory mounting platform for rod holders, cameras, lights, flags....you name it.

Due to it's design, you can change the way you have things mounted, so that it benfits the type of fishing your doing; example- one day you may be fishing offshore and not have worries about clearance issues with rods carried verticle, so you have rod tubes installed. The next trip I may be fishing backcountry and have adjustable rod holders carrying the rods near horizontal, allowing me to fish tight into the mangroves without worries of my rod tips getting snagged.

I've been so happy with mine, I got one for my 12y/o son's Revo 11.

Joey I'm real interested on how you mount and use your lake troll down rigger! Can you post more pics and tell me how you have them mounted?

I've been using the BlackPak on my Revo 13 since prototype and I have found it to be an invaluable tool on that kayak. I have only had the PA 14 for a few weeks and I am not yet convinced that it is the ideal storage system for a PA14. Aside from the massive storage of this beast, I don't feel that the shape of the BlkPk makes efficient use of the rear storage area of the PA14 (perhaps it is the way I have it configured). I personally feel that a PA BlkPk should be wider on the beam and narrower fore and aft. This may maximize the utilization of the space for other uses; such as a live well or large cooler.

Looks like some of you have done a real nice job of configuring the BlkPk and better utilizing the PA cargo space. I might have to try and reconfigure my setup to see if I can make it work better back there.

Would be cool if Hobie came out with one specifically for the PA....

If the Black Pack isn't waterproof, why wouldn't a black milk crate work just as well?

Pretty expensive... I even paid for 3 milk crates to make a crate,with a shallow storage compartment and lid... cost $9. I like milk crates so that I can see what is inside and where. But hey, for those who own them, enjoy!

P.S. - in the USA! I have seen those pet food bins with the gasketed screw top lid for ~$20 or less at the store Home Goods. Tis is less than I've seen at large pet care places like Petco or Pet Smart...
