yup, had this in my crap laying around, it helps... my biggest issue is my butt, right side (yeah, I know TMI...) but hurts like heck after a few hours... tried this foam cusion but no better...

Does anyone else get lower back aches with their old style seat on their pro angler? I find that after a couple of hours peddling this occurs. I tried adjusting the peddles and angler of the seat. It might be time to change seats. Any thought? Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk |

No problems with mine. It may be a matter of adding some lumbar support or a thin cushion which can change the angle slightly. |

JD: I had lower back pain once after peddling for an extended time too. I thought that it was my seat, and I have the new one. I added a 1 1/4" pad, made from an exercise mat, only on the bottom of the seat. It seamed to help the next time out, or at least I thought so. But the third time out I forgot the pad, and suffered no ill effects from the extended peddle time. I think in my case with all my war wounds, LOL  , it might have been old age.A friend told me about adding the padding on the seat part, rather than on the back rest. He said that he thought his lower back pain was from his sciatica caused from sitting too long and peddling while on a wide seat - rather than one found on a bicycle - which put his hips more into play. He solved his problem with the pad. That's why I tried the padding in the first place. HOPE this helps - worth a try anyway, and a lot cheaper than a new seat. |

I use a blowup doughnut from Walgreen's. I think it is designed for hemorrhoids but I have used it for years while driving long distances in the car and in the yak. I get backaches from sciatica. When you begin to feel discomfort stick it under your bum for a while. Alternate with and without it. I hope it helps you. |

Hi, all, I was getting lower back pain as well, with the new seat on my PA14. I rigged something with a TackleWeb and Thermarest lumbar pillow: viewtopic.php?f=78&t=48449 Works great - I can pedal for hours with no discomfort. |

Much or most of your pain is caused by the fact that your feet are higher than your butt when you pedal (NOT peddle). I cured mine by making seat risers out of a length of 2x4. Those three inches make a HUGE difference. Risers attached to factory base:  And with seat reinstalled:

Yup. Three feet or so of 2x4 and eight new bolts. Some paint if you want to (I still haven't). About an hour to drill the holes and assemble. Done. Oh, and you'll love the added storage space under there, too! |

Another thing to try is to use "heel straps" so your heels are held in position/resting by gravity....I eliminated the Hobie straps 3 years ago and never looked back! This can help in relieving back pain. Check out viewtopic.php?f=11&t=49343 |

I had the same issue my cure was, 1st I picked up a Hobie blow up cushion (around $20) which made it better, it's held the air for two years now. 2nd I saw a seat slide for sale on a fishing site that was identical to one used on this site to modify the seat. Really made a difference being able to move the seat back and forth, keep in mind the higher the seat the more it changes the center of gravity. |
