I know some folks figured out a way to "flare" the ends of the rod holders with heat. If you had a Dremel tool or something similar, you could route out a small slot in the rod holder ends for the spinning reel base to fit in (if you use those types of reels). That orange color sure stands out! ![]() |

I did a DIY rodholder as well for my PA12. I won't be as specific in the directions, but I made mine to fit around a certain size crate that holds either two coolers (fish and drink/food) or cooler and aerator for shrimp. I'll just post the link to my "home" Kayak site. I did "flare" out the rodholders and cut out slits with a hacksaw/dremel to "seat" the rods better. http://www.swfkaa.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=865 |

I turned the PVC upside down and stood it on a 100 watt light bulb.... the plastic will heat up and begin to soften... spin the PVC a few times and add a little pressure and it will flare to match the shape of the bulb. Take it off and let it cool... it'll retain that flared shape. |

Yeah I plan the buff down the edges and hope to flare them as well. I will try the light bulb technique. |

Guys, these all look great. One of my favorite things about kayak fishing is the DIY projects and ideas fishermen come up with. |
