Nothing short of awesome in my opinion, I have no words to describe it, and I don't even fish. As a former powerboater myself I think most of us have come to the realization that owning a powerboat (especially in Florida) is a very expensive and losing proposition, plus who can afford to pay for the gas anymore (@ $4.50 per gallon at marinas). Just filling up the 60 gallon tank on our Sea Ray every weekend was enough to break the bank for us. Plus dry storage for a powerboat runs about $375 per month, on top of that a new boat is over $60k, and the yearly maint in saltwater literally kills you. This can easily be stored in the garage and the yearly maint if anything like my TI is exactly zero. In my opinion Hobie is right on the mark with this new boat, though I'm not selling my Tandem Island anytime soon ( I'm just sayin ( LOL) ). Bob |

The article stated a $5,299 price. I guess that's cheaper than buying two PA12s...lol. I can see the utility if you just wanted to have one Pro Angler that you could use by yourself, with the significant other or a fishing buddy. Do not believe that one would be a car topper either. Definitely need a trailer for transport! |

Well done, Hobie! Brilliant! I thought roto-molding was pretty much maxed out at 14'. Curious about: -Cradles and spacing (can original cradles be used)? -Colors? -Hull speed? -Sail(s)? -Beam? What a beauty! Anxious to see this one... GR8 Laker |

It will certainly appeal to those who plan to trailer the boat anyway, and want to take a buddy, spouse or child along. Better than trying to stuff a second person in a single person boat. ............... |

I don't plan on getting one any time soon, but I would love to demo it to see how it handles. I can't wait to see it at iCast on Thursday. |

No doubt the PA-17 will be a good selling machine......I like the fact they also took care of the trailer and cart issues up front......no one will be car topping this baby! |

I presume the 'social seating' requires a 3rd drive well facing backwards under the vantage seat...I didn't see it discussed much in the vid. I imagine putting the drive in backwards so the driver in front can move the boat in reverse, while the driver in back can move the boat forward. Crazy. The rails seem more square, maybe just in places, to accommodate what looks like a new accessory mounting system. An XL size live well and h-bar. Add FF, trolling motor, power pole and trailer and we've got a great parent-child or guide fishing machine. This will also rock in "car-topper" tournaments and big boat tournaments that allow car-toppers. Screw the john boat, this things rules. |
