How many people keep their rods in the rod holders on the way to the lake, river or ocean? I normally keep them in the vehicle for the drive but the last outing I stuck them in the rod tubes. I admit it was nice, not having to untangle or remove them from vehicle but my rod collection is to pricey to ruin any rods this way. My friend says this is fine and will not ruin/ break them. Concerned about the vibration breaking down the integrity of the rod causing to malfunction prematurely and losing inserts in the eyes of the rod. |

I usually transport 4 rods in the PA rod holders instead of in my truck. I use braided nylon "rod socks" on each rod, though. This will protect the line guides. It also makes the rods easier to slide in and out of the rod holders - no hangups on the guides. |

Ive rolled everywhere over west coast, Mt s, whatever past 4 years rods in holders no bed ext. no issues |

I actually use a snowboard rack to transport my rods, on the thule rack |

I store my 4 rods in the PA12 holders when transporting every weekend. However, when I went camping and had a dirt road to drive on the dust caked my rods and reels pretty badly. When a dirt road is traveled I now put the rods in the truck. |

I use the rod socks too and haven't had any problem. One reason I love my PA is that Hobie thought out so many "little things" like this. With my Jackson Cuda (which I also liked) there were rod tip protectors but nothing as easy as the PA. I never transported my rods in my Cuda but I always do in my PA. Good comment about the dirt roads though. Haven't been down any dusty ones so I'll watch for those! |

hunterfj; Take the advice of your friend. Vibration shouldn't bother your rods. Dirt and grit in your reels, however, is a pain in the ass. Use a boat cover, especially on dirt roads. Regards |

I usually transport my rods in the kayak when fishing local water. I also use Rod Gloves (sleeves) on my rods that in addition to protecting the rod help prevent snagging a guide when inserting/removing a rod from one of the tubes. When traveling long distance my rods go into a Bazooka rod case/carrier - no tangled rods, snagging hooks, lures, bent/damaged rods that way. |

Always carry my rods on board the PA. When traveling on the highway and it is raining, I cover the reels with a plastic bag. Wet highway road spray wouldn't be good for the reels. |
