Post subject:  Seat problem

I have a torn seat on my Pro Angler 12. I have had it a little over a year, and I am not a big person (165 lbs), very disappointing. It has not been abused, worst thing I have done is kneel in it to reach things in the back. Any ideas on a good fix to keep this from happening again?

Had the same happen to mine a couple of months ago. I took some photos and gave them as well as the hull number and my contact information to my local Hobie dealer. Within a week or so, I had a box on my doorstep from Hobie with a new seat top and bottom.

Go through your Hobie dealer. I doubt Hobie acts directly off forum posts.

Correct. We do not sell or warranty direct to consumers. Contact the dealer from which you purchased the product. They will file a warranty claim based on their knowledge of the sale to you.

I was half kidding. I have sent info to my dealer after hornet's post. I haven't used the kayak much and this year especially, total of less than 75 hours on the water, and stored inside my garage. It happened shortly after one year but I hope Hobie comes through as this shouldn't have happened after so little use, in my opinion.

The warranty is two years, so that is not a question at all. The seats have changed a bit after learning of weak points like this from use in the field.
