I'm wondering more about highway driving. I have been reluctant to put anything in the kayak for the drive other than a few items in the forward hatch. And I want to build a rocket launcher for it but stuff is piling up in my Tahoe. I wouldn't leave the seat up there in the wind. But does anyone pre mount anything up there? pvc rocket launcher, 48qt cooler, etc? |

When i had my jeep cherokee i toped my pa14 the only thing i would leave on the yak was the fish finder and battery inside |

I take everything out except my rods and the tackle box insert in the center hatch. I don't want any extra weight when loading/unloading it OR if I have to make any sudden steering inputs. I load the front storage bin, the seat, my ice chest, battery, paddle, mirage drive, and net in the back of my Highlander. |

I do not car top a PA 14, but I do trailer it backwards due to the seat. I pull it with the seat facing less resistence down the road. Not much drag, but I like the way it pulls better. Good luck with topping the PA.. Hard job even if you are in great shape.. One other suggestion about topping: I would make sure the tie the bow and stearn to each bumper to keep it from slidding forward or backwards if you are stopping real quick, or if the cross ties become loose. (believe me they will loosen while driving). |

always tie two on the sides and one front one back. even though there are lots of knobbies, you won't want to lose that thing on the hway. |
