If over half the length of the PA12 is supported by the bed and tailgate, my opinion is that you would not need a tailgate extender. The key here is support for the hull, especially if you have gear loaded in the PA when it is in the back of the truck. You still need to hang a flag off the back so folks behind you are aware it's sticking out at them when they pull up behind you. A bed extender does allow for overall better support and securing options. I'll assume you might not have a receiver hitch on your truck and that's the reason for asking. Just my thoughts. Congrats on getting a PA. Post some shots of the new ride when you get it on the water or finish rigging it. |

I have a PA 14 and put it on my Tacoma with no extra support. No problems at all. |

I've had the same set up you have Tacoma acces cab and PA12 You don't need a bed extender . I load the hobie bow first , then pass a rope through the aft scupper holes ,back up to the tail gate catches . That's it , I've safely travelled 100's of miles ,using only two ropes ,and the PA hasn't moved . |

PA12 sits great w/ no additional support on Tundra. Is your Tacoma 5.5 or 6 ft bed.... Was planning on looking for a 6ft bed Tacoma. Thx,NHG |
