Are there umbrella or shade kits available for the PA line? Looking for options when taking the little ones out on the lake for extended periods of time.

Thanks in advance.

One thing to search for is 'bimini', the term for a boat cockpit cover.

I know of the WindPaddle version, it's on their main page:
http://www.windpaddle.com
A friend has one and likes it, I've thought about getting one myself but haven't yet. I'm not sure how it would work out on a tandem - it might be inconvenient on the front seat. Folds up small and (in theory) can be quickly dropped in case the wind comes up.

A quick search actually brings up "Hobie bimini" - looks quite interesting - but I don't see any reference to it on Hobie's website, just in the forums. Looks like it was made by Pro-Techt and it's still available:

I've also seen quite a few people just build a PVC structure behind the seat with a post at the top to drop a golf or beach umbrella in. Perhaps, with a PA, just a fishing rod holder on the rail would work? I'm not sure how much loading those holders can take - any wind and the umbrella would need a strong mount.

There is a $10 clamp on umbrella that you should be able to find at your local Walmart if you are not invested in spending too much for the kiddies. I use it and look like a dork, I'm sure, but it has the silver lining and is supposed to be a bit of a sunscreen. Only problem is it has a plastic c-clamp (I attach it to the top bar of the chair) and I snapped it trying to tighten it too much after a couple months. I'm on cheapo umbrella # 2 with some rubbery shelf liner to stop sagging/wind gusts - but the umbrella was still around a year later and the additional grip helped. Sorry I couldn't find a link to it, ran out of time. If it is available it would be found in with the beach umbrellas, around three feet long, multi-coloured striping, comes in a clear sheath, white plastic c-clamp.

I will be having my own made not to long from now that utilizes the H-Bar for the forward mount and has optional drops on the sides to truly keep me dry in a rain shower. The ones i have seen marketed so far aren't worth having.
