Hello. I just received my evolve solar panel. In the accessory brochure the say that the panel unrolled measures 35.55 X 26.15 inches and rolled measures 14.5 X 4 inches. I understand the 4 inch diameter but I can't get it to the 14.5 inch long. Has anyone ever rolled the panel to these dimensions? If it can be done I would like to know how. The smallest I can get it to is 26.15 X 4 inches. |

The rolling direction is for long term storage as it ages. Not going to be an issue when new. Worry about diameter, not length. It does not roll or fold in more than one direction. |

It sounds like a misprint ........ I have the Torqeedo solar charger which is twice the Hobie size. Mine is not made to bend and to be rolled with the solar panel on the outside. You just don't want to fold it and break the cells |

So how do they work? How much time or distance? Do you recommend them? etc. |

Haven't tried mine yet. Have to figure out how to mount it because it is really big around 5 x 3 ft. Advertised to run the Torqeedo at 2.5 mph without a battery or keep the battery charged while running. REALLY well made ....... Mine is the torqeedo one. I don't think the Hobie will run the engine because it's 1/2 the size but will charge the battery |

The panel we sell for the evolve is a bit smaller to fit on the kayak while in use and store easier. It was a compromise for better over all function. It will run the motor and about 2 kts with optimum sun. The instructions do not mention a length... only a min diameter. Quote: Care: Roll the panel with the solar cells on the outside of the roll. Do not roll tighter than a 4" diameter. You can roll with the cable attachment inside or outside the roll. Best to protect the panel surface from scratching during use or storage. Cleaner the better for charging! The "length" rolled dimension is only in the catalog text and certainly incorrect. |

Not as designed. You would have to charge one at a time. |
