I have seen plenty of people put their SI transducer off of the side A few pics of people putting it where the Lowarance mount is No pics but a couple of people have said they did it in hull. It looks like there is enough space to put it between the front post and the front basket. Has anyone tried it in hull and failed? What happened? finny |

I've never tried it myself because I like to learn from the mistakes of others ... ![]() Those I know who have tried it said it failed to read well on the side imaging. That'll be due to the fact that you need an unobstructed view to the sides for the high frequency signals to be transmitted into the water. The hull is not acoustically transparent at those frequencies. (It will work fine for normal sonar which uses lower frequencies.) So, yes there is plenty of room to fit the transducer, but nowhere inside the hull is suitable for the side imaging to work. Cheers, Graeme |

Thanks. that is the first I am hearing about attenuation from the hull material, I was always under the impression that the hull was transparent. After some googling I found one article to back that up. The SI will work but be attenuated by about 1/2. Since I don't fish water that is all that deep or wide I am going to contact humminbird. I may just have to change a few settings to get the picture I want to see. |
