Hello Everyone: I was wondering how to get scratches out of my PA14. It happens fishing lakes launching etc. Not concerned about scratches but I would like to smooth out the scratched areas on the hull. Can you polish the scratches out? Deep ones you have to fill in. I was looking for suggestions.

Removing scratches from your Hobie hull is extremely easy, obviously any real deep scratches should be repaired with the Hobie welder. Just a single edge razor blade is all that is needed, just hold it vertically and swipe it back and forth quickly, the plastic comes off like snow flakes and leaves a clean like new finish, nothing else needed. Rest assured it would take about 30 yrs of scraping to scrape thru the hull which is as much as 3/8 of an inch in places like the bow and stern, and around 5/32" thick everywhere else (most scratches are around .001 to .002" deep. We flip our TI over once annually usually in the spring and clean it all up so it looks new again (an afternoon of work). I have never noticed any speed differences between a scratched up hull and a clean one.
Hope this helps
Bob
