Hello all! New to the forum, looks awesome! Question??? So I completed the conversion, everything went together well. Had to remove material off the drums, as they were contacting the idler wheel. Now I have plenty of clearance, but the cables are still making contact with the idle wheel. I'm wondering, do I need to off set the drums a little to clear the wheel, or is the V2 spine different than the GT spine. I don't know if it's a big deal that the cables are touching the wheel. I've been out a few times and I can see where it's rubbing, and it seems to be flattning out parts of the wheel. It is smoother, and I'm running a mph faster, but the cable rubbing the wheel bothers me and I'd like to know if anyone else have seen this...thank you |

At the very end of the stroke only? |

It's not the whole stroke, but it's more than just at the end |

Still have not figured it out. I have take the drive apart a few times and still, the cable is contacting the wheel thru most of the motion. Does anyone have any experience with this, and how do I fix it!?! |

What vintage was the drive you upgraded? Is the idler cable tensioned enough? |

It's a 2013, V2. I think the cables are tight enough. The cable that's rubbing the idle wheel is the sprocket chain cable. When I did the upgrade I used the same cables. I didn't think there were any changes to those. Is the spine on the GT the same? |

Should all work. That is an odd one. Anybody else? |

Do you have the idler wheel the right way around? It isn't centered on its shaft. The shorter side should face outward, to the front of the drive. Just looked at mine, there is very little clearance between the idler and cables. If it was turned around the wrong way it'd definitely be touching. |

Have not tried that. I figured it would be the same. Hopefully that's it! |

Wow. I feel like an idiot. I turned the idle wheel around and no more contact. I probably didn't need to remove material from the cams if I had known. Lesson learned. Note to all....MAKE SURE YOUR IDOLER WHEEL IS ON THE RIGHT WAY WHEN YOU DO THE CONVERSION!!!! It just never occurred to me that there is a front and back to the wheel. It's not labeled. Should have done that first...thank you very much for the help. Time to fish!!! |
