I have a 2012 PA 14 that has developed a gaping bad crack to the right side of seat under the rear rod holder, anyone know if this is a factory defect that Hobie might fix? There is a smaller crack in the exact same area on the left side also. I seen on here some other 2012 PA 14's that showed the exact same cracks as I have now on my 2012 PA 14. Here is the crack

Certainly a well used boat! The hull has a two year warranty, but file a claim with your dealer to see if our warranty department will consider an adjustment. |

It's just dirty from a straight week of fishing it cleans up good as new

Same exact cracking occured on the left side of my PA I was out side of the 2 year hull warranty and my dealer could get nothing from hobie welded up the crack, put some extra foam support in that area and have not had a problem with it since That was over a year ago just last week the right side developed the same crack  again just welded it back together, been on a couple tripsno problems yet looks a little chitty but keeps the boat floating Hobie screwed up somewhere in the design, too many cracked PAs in the exact same location, maybe a little thicker plastic in that area would have been the ticket... |

I'm going to file a claim with Hobie though the nearest dealer and hope for some type of resolution. If it doesn't go as planned, where did you get the correct color of weld for your repair? |

In 2009, I experienced a crack in the same area and Hobie took care of me.   My guess is you are a pretty big guy and the closed cell foam that Hobie puts inside the hull in that area either slide back or was never there. Whatever or however you remedy the problem, be sure and stuff all the closed cell foam you can in those areas (on both sides) and make sure they don't get out of place. Good luck! |

I have a 15 and i redid all the loose foam in mine making it much firmer in those areas. Also added additional foam blocks as well. The trick to keeping it from sliding is purchase some self adhesive 1/16 neoprene foam and apply it in the bottom of the boat where the foam will seat. The foam grips it really well and will not move. |
