I bought a Hobie Pro Angler hull only- without the drive or the seat. The drive issue was easy to fix in that I already had a Hobie Oasis. The seat was the big hurdle. I could wimp out and buy the whole seat assembly or I could make one. I choose the later.

This is what I started with

With some help of some measurements from my Jax Kayak Fishing friends, I was able to make some bottom pieces from Home Depot 1x1 tubing and alot of drilling.

I purchased a boat seat and swivel from Academy Sports. After playing with different ways to attach it to the bottom bars, I came with quick and dirty solution was 2x4's, 1x2 cedar strips ripped to 1", and 3.5" bolts with wing nuts.

Let know what you think. If this doesn't last I guess I can always purchase the whole assembly. Thanks

Since your kayak will be exposed to the elements, suggest using pressure treated lumber, redwood or cedar in place of the fir/soft wood for longevity.

I am going to coat the wood with tung oil or spray it with bedliner material. I agree with you can not leave it bare.

You need to add one of these!

I installed one on one of these back in the day before I bought a kayak

Out of curiosity, how does one buy a a Hobie Pro Angler without a seat or the Mirage drive? I don't doubt your integrity, but were there indications it could be stolen?

Ha, the boat is not stolen.

The boat was a replacement hull from a ex hobie pro. He purchased it from his rep.
