I really do like my new PA14 but have to admit that I find it completely frikkin ridiculous that Hobie says you need to use our cart or you may damage your kayak?? OK, I go buy the over priced scupper hole cart and tighten rubber grommets as tight as they will go. I walk maybe 20-25 yards with my kayak to get to the water. After 1 week I now have nice divots burned into the bottom of my very expensive kayak. Hobie knew this was an issue but fail to tell anyone. I had to make some modifications to my over priced inferior kayak cart in order to not ruin my kayak. I just find it ridiculous that a company like Hobie hasn't addressed this and at what they charge for anything. You should never have to make modifications to anything. It should just work. I love my PA14 but think Hobie needs to fix this ASAP! |

The included instructions suggest putting a short piece of Pvc on the upright below the collar. I use the pcv splices. They have a little ridge inside but it easily files right out. |

They suggest?? LOL at a $150 that cart should fit right out of the box! Especially when they say using another cart can damage your yak? Using the Hobie cart damaged my yak! I honestly do not ever recall seeing anything that told me to do that or my yak could be compromised?? Its a real simple fix. If they want to tell people to use this cart for the PA14, make a thicker collar for the cart? How difficult could this possibly be? |

........ Welcome to the world of Hobie Accessories for the PA ........... The PA is the Bastard Child of the Hobie Line ........ I have complained about this for years and have had many bouts with Matt about it. They finally made a cover that fits the PA but will not offer a trade in for everyone that was duped by their posting that it was made for the PA. Unless they changed things, the outriggers don't fit, there isn't a rear mount for the Evolve for the PA etc etc. ...... And yes Matt ...... Here we go again. |

Made original post on stop slippage back in March 2014 in hopes of making others aware of problem and maybe prevent the damage it causes to the PA hull. Even then others stated that this was not a new problem. What makes this even worse is the fact Hobie has a "Kit" consisting of a package containing two pieces of PVC pipe to install on cart to prevent stop slippage. Kit was sent to me after my complaining to ACK about the damage to my new PA. So, evidently Hobie is aware of the stops slipping on the heavier PA. At very least kit should be included with carts along with warnings. FYI. Slippage occurs on the solid black rubber tire carts as well as the ones with solid black plastic wheels. |

I have never noticed this before. My cart has never given me any trouble. However, my boat is never on it for more than 5 min tops. I understand the frustration, you would think they would just give you the PVC tubes with cart, I mean you have to assemble it anyway. |

We included PVC tubes for awhile... Then solved the issue by adding weld-stops over the last year or so. Solved. |

This is why I upgraded to the Boonedox Landing Gear with the PA Kit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faviylL7Mg8 |

Love the concept. I would caution that running into objects would put considerable twisting load on the mounting points. Over rougher terrain maybe add some spring lines. |

From where im sitting the Hobie cart is much better. Not sure what the guy is talking about with the wheels being further forward. Looks to me like they are in the same place. Lots of work ....and for what?... |

Main benefit I see is the ability to install wheels while still in the water. You don't have to empty PA, drag on shore and turn on its side to install cart. |

I think the original boonedox system was designed to mount further back on the pro angler; and that the newer pro angler design of the boonedox system allows it to be mounted "further forward" where it wants to be. I like the concept of the boonedox system, but in addition to stress points on the pro angler - I wondered why the wheels aren't on one/singular cross bar so that they can be raised and lowered together, instead of separately, to save time/headaches during launch and landing. |

The Boonedox system is made for the user to install the wheels one at a time. The wheels ride partially underneath the hull when in use. Installing one at a time allows you to lift slightly on one side, install the wheel, then do the same on the other side. This alleviates having to turn your boat completely on its side, and having everything fall out, or emptying it prior to loading the wheels. Its actually MUCH easier putting the wheels on than the Hobie cart! |
