In you have the leaning bar and H rail system on a PA12 2015, you can flip the leaning bar around and mount it backwards at the back of the H track. The shorter angled arms point forward and mount on the rail. When mounted at the extreme rear of the H tracks, the ends of the main bars line up and fit almost perfectly into the fishing rod holders. Looks like a roll bar. They couldn't have planned this, but voila, it works. Why would you want to do this, you ask? Because it is a perfect frame, along with the front bar, for a bimini/sun shield/weather enclosure. For me it will allow getting near to animals under cover for photography. Like duck hunting from a kayak but with a camera. |

I have rigged up my PA12 with a second H-bar as described, and made a blind out of camp tarp and a few grommets. Put in windows on the side walls and a clear window in the dodger for visibility. In my initial post I said the bar ends fit in the rod holders. They do but I wanted something more secure, so I thru bolted the straight pad eyes that come with the H-bar, locating them in about the middle of the rear deck just in from where the shock cords clip to the gunwales. Gives a very sturdy rail that could also be used as a rearward facing leaning rail for fishing. I will attach pics when I figure out how. Suggestions appreciated! |

Interesting, great idea guys. Would love to see some photos. Another mod, the wife keeps asking me, "How could you possibly add another "thing" to my Hobie PA-14?" |

If your asking how to add pictures to your post, I just use tinypic.com. You just browse to the picture you want to post and hit upload. It will come back with 4 responses - one labeled IMG code for message boards. Copy and paste that into your message.. IMG]http://i66.tinypic.com/11reyhz.jpg[/IMG ...but include the brackets before and after the first and last IMG... In this case you end up with this... ![]() |
