Post subject:  REVO 16 -- DRUM PREVENTIVE LUBRICATION??

Been looking through all the info online and haven't noticed anything about taking the drum out and greasing it (with marine grade axle grease).... Saw how to put a new one together, all the spots to lube, etc.... My Revo 16 is about the 2008/9 genre recognizable with beveled ends vs rounded.... Just wondering with such an old boat if it "should" be done?? I vaguely remember some noise last time in the fall and just wanted to get her all set for the spring. Thanks

I have a couple of drives that go waaaay back to the stainless steel sprocket era (if you remember that!?). Apart from replacing the drum shaft on one drive which had rounded ends to the one with bevelled ends (so that it would work in a clip'n'go hull) I have never taken either drive apart for maintenance. I use them a lot and exclusively in salt water, I always hose them off after use, but apart from that all they get is the occasional (maybe every third outing) spray with wd40 or similar and the only time they come apart to any degree is if a chain/cable assembly breaks and needs to be replaced (which hasn't happened for years)...

...so I wouldn't sweat it if I were you - just use them, wash any salt water off them and know how to fix them if they ever go wrong.
