I posted a while back about finding a small amount of water in the hull after an outing lasting a couple hours. Well today since I'm off work and board out of my mind I took the PA outside and rinsed her off. I sprayed heavily around every hatch and found no water in the hull. So I ruled out leaky hatches.

I then put the boat on its side and went over the hull thoroughly.

And found this. It's where the sail mast tube connects to the bottom of the hull, I don't believe it's a crack but a pretty deep gouge. That spot of the hull protrudes out a 1/4" or so and creates a "high spot". I covered it in "goop" and we will see how it does.

Has anybody else seen an incident like this? Any words of wisdom to dealing with the situation?

Thanks!

Doesn't sound right. If it were my brand new yak and had a leaking bulge like that in the hull, I'd be on my way back to the dealer! Looks more like a warranty issue than a goop-n-go issue.

What is that white plastic circle or dowel sticking thru the bottom of the kayak? Is that part of the sail mast? I have two of them just north of the mirage drive well.

I have gouges in my 2012 PA that are deeper than that with no leaks (so far...).

Not your leak issue I am pretty sure.

There is a brass insert in that location that is threaded to the mold. Once removed from the mold we cap it. The insert gives the attachment point for the accessory mount (Mast Holder). It is completely encased in plastic on top (inside the hull) and the threads do not go clear through.
