Add the Hobie white square storage bucker that fits in the floor versus that 2 bin popup mechanism. It's the best $20 you can spend on an accessory. Gives you a great place to store your camera/phone, etc.

Welcome. Ive had my PA14 for a month now and its very addicting buying new things for it.
Hopefully I can put it in the water for the 2nd time tomorrow if the wind/rain can hold off a little bit.

Is the storage bucket water proof as long as the hatch is closed?

Yes 8) However, if you use it to keep lures with treble hooks, the regular boxes are better.....it's a choice you make of how you really intend the space to be used for.
My camera and first aid kit is small enough to fit in the mesh pocket inside the cover. I keep my long nose pliers, nippers, split ring pliers, etc on my NRS Chinook, fishing life vest with cable retractors, so I do not lose them.....quick and easy to use and not inside the "bucket". Just my take on the subject.

It is preference, but I also find the bucket to be supremely handy. I have plenty of space to store Plano boxes, but being able to keep things you use regularly, just between your feet is super handy. I do store tackle, even stuff with treble hooks in the bin, usually between outings. The mesh pocket was a huge hook magnet. I ordered the replacement hookless mesh pocket to replace the easily snagged nylon one in the hatch lid. $10.99 for two of those.

One easy thing I found to deal with treble hook lures, is a pool noodle that I cut to 12" long and then I cut two flat spots, 180 degrees apart so it won't roll....maybe remove about 1/2" of the foam to make a flat side.

I usually change lures every 45 minutes if no action, so keeping the hooks from being an issue, the pool noodle works very well to hold the lures.
