I live in Canada, Scotty is a Canadian company and I live in a major city, you would think I could buy all or almost all the pieces I need. Nope, I can't even special order them. Yes, I contacted Scotty, Scotty distributor and local stores. 3rd bad experience with Scotty and their inability to supply common staple product even after months of trying so I am looking to alternatives. For boats I went to Folbe and Down East. Mini rant over Folbe sells railmounts, extended arms for rod holders and some kick but rod holders. So that is covered, I think. Does anyone else have these? I have this nice Scotty transducer arm sitting on a shelve in the garage, can't get the fishfinder head mount. I don't like the mad frog or other side mount units I have seen, looking for something like the Scotty, any suggestions? thanks, finny |

Are you looking for transducer arms, what about the RAM arm? Or mounts for your fish finder? Or Rod holders? Like everything else, it is based on personal preference. I am invested in a combo of RAM, Hobie and YakAttack. RAM tubes on spline mounts, Ram spline bases with gear track attachments, RAM balls, Hobie H-Bar Rod holders, and Hobie/YA mighty mount and tracks, etc. The combination may seem strange but they integrate very well and allow me to customize the boat VERY easily for any particular outing. I have even added H-bars to my non-Hobie guest kayak so that I can share accessories when I take my unfortunate yak-less friends along. I am not sure what the problem is with Scotty in Canada, or how Amazon Prime works over the boarder either. Guess I am lucky down hear in St. Louis, Missouri. I buy a ton of my stuff from ACK and receive it in just a few days, or Amazon Prime and have in two days, and if it an emergency and I need it now, I have a BassPro, Cabela's, and three Gander Mountains within a 20 minutes drive plus my Hobie dealer who keeps a pretty decent stock of H-accessories. |

follow up....a little while after I posted this a friend had mercy on me and picked one up while on a trip so I used it. It works now so I don't want to go through more hassle. Next time I will consider something else. Amazon: 2-3 times the price Hobie: pffft they were of no help, one person did try, another basically shrugged their shoulders. Buddy: he always comes through. It is just really strange. One would think that a company wants to make sure its product can be sold. Hobie does a GREAT job in this respect and that makes me happy. |
