What weight are you using with your downrigger? I probably won't be running deeper than 60 feet.

I think mine is 3-lb, your basic round ball with minimum fins. I have used it down to 120-ft.

I use the 4# that comes with this one, been fine to 100# at slow (kokanee) trolling speeds:

been using these for 4 years now and very happy with them, I do re-spool with 80# braid to eliminate the wire humming noise...

Thank you all for your replies. I ended up with a 4# weight because that was what BP had. The next size they had was 10#.

Grizz.....Good choice for the weight.....my 4 pound weight actually weighed 4.23 pounds on my wife's digital, 11 pound capacity kitchen scale.

I have 4, 6, and 8lb weights. I use the 4lb weight 99% of the time with no issues. I re-strung the downrigger with braid, really helped on the blow-back. Deeper than 50 feet I prefer the 6lb ball, but the 4 does work fine.

Dr. SteelheadCatcher, you got me curious. My Bass Pro “Four pound weight” weighed in at 3.86 pounds.
