Post subject:  Need help to find used parts for my 2010 PA
I had to post it again, because the previous post did not show up...
I would appreciate any parts for a 2010 PA 14. I bought a bare body, and i don't have the extra money to spend hundreds of $$ on parts. If you have any spare or used parts , and willing to sell it I will buy it. I have no rudder, drum, steering kit, seat base, hatch liners.. I can order some smaller stuff from ACK but like the steering kit for $200 just insane... I already got a mirage drive , so please let me know if you upgraded the steering and have the old one, if you have other parts . Is there any place when I can find to buy a damaged PA 14?

Boy... stripped of all that stuff? Sounds like a warrantied hull possibly sold (should have been scrapped).

It is an older model 2010.. And had a crack by the seat both side, like 80% of the PA14 2012 or earlier model. What is disgusting in my opinion the company never did a recall , but they knew the design failed, and this is why they change it in 2013 , with a more supported "seat area" model. Austin Kayak try to help me and weld it, and I ordered most of the parts from them. Hope next couple weeks it is all get together, I either got an upgraded Rudder kit , with a large rudder. Got a seat, a mirage drive, few little things are missing. I can't afford a new model, I just want to take fishing my little girl on the most safe kayak ever built , and that is the Pro Angler , even with mine cracked , the Austin Kayak hopefully will help. I am looking to buy a newer 2013 model later, but I spent a lot to get this one back to alive :) .

80%? How would you arrive at that? We have a claim rate at most about 1.5% over all, not a chance it is a high percentage and certainly not recall worthy. This is not a design issue, it is a best a mold fault and not the reason for a design change.

So, again... why do you have this hull? Sounds again like a warrantied hull replaced by Hobie. This type of hull is to be destroyed and not resold and would be considered Hobie Cat property.

It is not a warrantied hull, the owner sold everything of it 1 by 1, and it was sitting there , so i asked if is for sale.. By the way your "protecting" number of 1.5% is a joke, maybe not 80% but over 50% for sure. Every early 2010 model I saw had some crack on it, and because of the design! It is much less support by the seat . Off course they didn't want to do a recall because it could be the end for business to replace that many. I don't know where you getting your information about warrantied crap, but sounds like you are a lawyer to protect them.:)
I like their products, and I paid a lot for make this one to come back to life, so I am not appreciate a tone like that. Not everybody can afford an almost $4000 kayak, so lot's of us try to buy a used one...
I will definitely buy an other one if i will find a nice used , but this time 2013 or younger.

I the director of Parts and accessory sales, warranty and technical support. I know the percentage of warranty claims.

And off course you know mr director also , how many people didn't start a claim, because it was after the warranty, or they just welded it , and it wasn't a big deal for them.. ? It doesn't take a big effort to fix it, even if cracked both side. But every PA owner I talked agreed the 2013 model is much supported , stronger version. So I am not here bashing the brand, I love it, and I paid for it. Actually a lot, so I am a user of the product, why I would lie? I just referred to my coworker a day ago to get one, because he was looking to buy a kayak, and never heard of Hobie. What I was saying you guys should do a recall..
Anyway I got 100 times more help for yak owners than from Hobie. I couldn't even order a base for the old seat, "Only sells with a seat" for ridiculous price. And this is an other point and most of the people agreed , the product awesome, but overpriced..

Yes MtMouse , I still bought one. Smart@ss.... I didn't see the crack until I brought home. I never had a kayak, I didn't know anything about this model. When I noticed the crack, I did my research. The owner lied , and didn't want to worked it out. I brought it home from an other state.

Just someone let me know what parts i have to order to replace the rudder ( I only have the blade) , and where can i order it? I need the original pre 2012 the steering is under the seat. I can't find the part number on the website, only shows the upgraded kit for $185. Even if I will buy that, what else I need?

Mine is a 2010 and not had any issues what so ever. Just returned from another week in the Gulf and still no leaks or cracks. Maybe lucky but 80% seems a bit extreme.

Nothing has to do, but if he is 150lbs probably won't hurt the yak. But a 220-250lbs person sat on the seat could cause those cracks. Anyway , I don't care. I am looking for parts, but looks like the director of parts won't help...
