It's been storming all day, so I decided to work on some pet projects. One nuisance item I wanted to address was the Hobie H-Rail cup holder. I just don't like the way it holds my coffee cup or Powerade bottle. Looking at this picture you can see that something is just not right.

So being a talented engineer, I figured I would come up with a Hi-Tech solution to fix this outrageous problem. I thought of increasing the tension on the bungee cords to secure it better, or making and insert that would hold my cup tighter, or even plastic welding a different cup holder to the H-Rail mount.

But all those seemed like way to much work, so instead I broke out my trusty hack saw and cut the bottom off the cup holder. Genius I say, genius!

My coffee cup is now snug as a bug in a rug...

...and my Powerade Zero fits like a glove...

...I am even thinking of 'modifying' a second one to use as a holder for my folding grapnel anchor. Maybe I should turn this into a business. I could sell them for $49.95 + $15.95 S&H. If I only sold 20,000 of them I would make a million dollars.

Guess I should probably keep my day job!

I was just joking around with this post. Could not get out fishing and thought I would 'fix' what was really a non issue. But, that being said, I really do like it better now...it works for me.
