It looks like when it comes to trailers, cheap ones can be used to transport Hobie Kayaks. However, if we consider the salt corrosions and bumpy road stress can crack the hull, the only trailer I have in mind is the trailex. I have PA 14 and looking to buy another one (2017 PA17) and the only trailer I think suited to transport both kayaks is the SUT 450I with additional PVC and maybe extend the main bar to accommodate long kayak like the PA17. The max cap is 450 lbs. I think. https://www.trailex.com/SUT-450I.cfm Can you guys please share your trailer design which can accommodate two PA. I don't mind going with Cheap trailer as long as it has similar shock absorbing feature like Trailex. Did anyone add a shock absorber on their kayak trailer? Please share your idea. So two things, 1. trailer idea to hold 2 pro angler 2. trailer with shock absorber like trailex or Malone. Thanks in advance. |

Hobie partnered up with Trailex to create our solution specifically for transporting two Pro Angler 12 or 14's...the Trailex Trailer - Double (part no. 38652200)...cradles available separately (part no. 72020401). Thanks Howie. That trailer is currently my first choice. But since the 2017 delivery is about a month from now I still have time to look around hoping to find one on the same price range or lower with better setup for my needs. |

Here's one I found for 1375. Arm length is 35 inches but should be ok as I plan to use PVC. And top can hold a box for my gears like the paddle and mirage drive and trolling motor and maybe a bike... looks like this one is better choice. |

We originally used a Triton dual PWC trailer for just this very thing and found it perfect. They're pricy new, but if you can find a used one you may find it to be an affordable choice for the purpose of hauling 2 Pro Anglers. |

I have the Trailex Double with the Hobie Cradles and have had no problems now for 3 years. The only thing I have done is repack the bearings every year and still have the original tires on it. |

Storing the PA on PVC trailer bunks will eventually cause permanent bows in the PVC and diminish the "springiness" of the PVC that helps with shock absorption on the road. This can be alleviated by using a tightly telescoped arrangement of "PVC-inside-PVC" to fine tune that part of your suspension system. Attach the main PVC tubes high enough and as far forward and aft as possible in order to allow plenty of bend in each tube as it conforms to the hull contour. Then dial-in additional strength to the areas of the tubes with the most deformity by inserting slightly smaller size diameter PVC tubes into those areas. Repeat as necessary to get a custom fit, then hold them all in place with a few screws. I have 3 concentric layers of PVC in the most stressed section of my tubes, with 2 layers beyond that, and 1 layer at the attachment points. My tubes nicely conform to the hull and never "bottom out" against the trailer frame when driving over rough terrain. I also removed 2 of 3 leaf springs from my cheap HF trailer and run the tires at a surprisingly low PSI. I get the best ride and tread wear pattern at around 15 PSI or so. |

Craigslist, dual pwc trailer. All the way. Super durable. I pull mine no problem with a 4 cylinder mazda. Move the bunks in some and flatten them out for pa14. Added $60 rollons for the sides. One ratchet strap on the back and winch in the front its completely secure. I can launch without carrying or getting wet if its colder.
