Looks like I need to stop thinking about adding a motor on my PA 14.

Appears to be a sit-inside version of a Mokai, or so.

Funny how these things tend to come full circle. The first fishing kayaks were lightweight simple craft, weighed about 50 pounds, cost a couple to three hundred dollars. No frills. You carried two rods and a small plastic box of lures, maybe a small soft cooler for a couple drinks and a sandwich. The lure was simplistic fishing from a simple craft that dispensed with heft, complexity and motors.

Little by little the boats got larger, heavier, more expensive and new drive types were added. Cost shot up to $1000, then $2000 and now even more. Then motors, both electric and even outboard, were added.

Another boat generation or two and we'll be back to full on bass and bay boats.

And then somebody will develop the fishing kayak, right back where we started - with a simple 50 pound kayak, a paddle and room for a couple rods and a cooler...

I have a Mokai and it does fine in most of that stuff. There is a wear ring that can be replaced as needed. A screen covering the bottom keeps out larger stuff, although it can become clogged. whereupon you either stop the motor, or reach underneath and scoop any debris away.
