Question for the forum. PA 17T The tackle tray won't close without forcing the hatch down. After looking it over, the tray bottom hits the foam in the bottom of the boat. My dealer said to sand down the foam and apply some silicone over the sanded area. It appears I will need to sand off about 1/2" worth of foam to make it close properly. Does anyone on the forum know who thick the foam is that is sprayed onto the bottom of the yak? I don't want to sand into the boat itself. I hope you get an answer to this as I would like to use the tray in two of thebthree hatches. |

The foam is rotomolded... not sprayed and location and thickness varies hull to hull. It is used to stiffen the surfaces primarily. I hear the bucket will not fit the forward hatch due to how the hull narrows up there, but unclear about the tackle management. If the other two... you could insert a small nail into the foam until you contact the outer skin to determine thickness. They tell me the foam is closed cell, so silicone is not needed after shaving. |
