On the new PA17T Hobie have added the new front trolling motor plate. Very clever!
:D
Does this plate fit the 12/14 models? Or maybe it can be easily modified to fit?
Is the witdh of the front handle the same on the different models?
They all look very similar in the front but I gues the bow curve gunnel line can differ....

The trolling motor mount is not suited for the 12 or the 14. The 17T has special hull reinforcements to accept the weight and torque; the other PA models do not.

Thanks for the info Howie!
Yup, now when I read your info it seems logical. I wondered how that little sleek peace of metal was mounted. The Xi5 is about 40Lbs so its a heavy load for the mount.

I guess I will make some custom front/side mount for the Xi5 on the PA12 I am planning for.

Just saw one of the mounts today I don't think they are so difficult to adapt to the Pa14
They are only held by the 2 bolts from the front handle and just a screw at the end on the top
The only thing that I'm wondering it's the weight of the motor making the front too heavy in one side
I'm looking at installing a watersnake commando with wireless control
