Post subject:  2018 Hobie Mirage PA 14 - What accessories should I consider
Getting ready to pull the trigger on a PA 14. I was originally thinking about a $15K bass boat but I'm not very handy with motors and have small lakes with motor size restrictions... So decided to just go with the best yak on the market. Since I'm "saving" 10 grand, I figured to go all out on outfitting my new toy.

I already have a fish finder, and have all the emergency essentials along with safety equipment. What should I consider purchasing?

I will mostly be fishing Freshwater with a bit of fishing Sea of Cortez and Pacific Coast.

Suggest listing "all of the equipment you already have".

GPS?
Marine Radio?
Anchor?
30' tow line?
Visicarbon Pro safety flag and light?
Tools to work on the Mirage Drive if needed?
Bilge hand pump?
Leash for the paddle and Mirage Drive?

For going offshore I would pass on the inflatable PFD and get one that has both a pocket for a VHF-FM marine radio with GPS and DSC, and a crotch strap or way to add one. The the "rescue" versions are some of the best in providing features not found on "recreational" PFD's.

A flag for the kayak also helps other boats to see you. One big difference with a kayak is that in a 2-foot swell it becomes invisible much of the time to other boaters.
