Post subject:  PA left on the kart for 5 days

So I was a really idiot and on the rush to get out of town I left my PA 14 on the kart for 8 days. I know it's not even supposed to be left on there for an hour. Has anyone heard of horror stories from leaving it on the kart for extended time? Is there anything I should do to prevent damage?

Thanks

Rob

So is there damage? It would be scuppers pushed up into the hull. Maybe the deck areas around scuppers pushed up. Hull bottom distortion?

Its a bigger issue in heat wave, especially if loaded. I left my old adventure on a cart for a day in the middle of a hot spell. Dind't damage the scuppers as it was also supported by a padded crossbar, but it did end up looking like a banana with bonus rocker. Flattened out again though after storing level for a while

No damage noted and it was stored inside. I'm just worried about long term structural integrity. Hopefully I'm just being paranoid but if they recommend no longer than 30 mins, than a week can't be good!

Nothing would be hidden. You would see it. I'm guessing that you are fine.

Okay this thread caught my attention. Just bought a used PA14 and Revo 13 and here they sit until I can properly store them. They are supported on the bottom by 2X4s that are roughly 7 feet apart. Any issue here and if so what should I do to modify the way they are stored now?

Not sure about you PA storage ( I’ve never owned one, someone else will need to reply on that).
We had a couple revo’s just like in your pic.
On that revo there are two grooves on 11” centers running the length of the boat. On ours we stored flat on the ground hull down. To keep from scratching the bottom when dragging around the concrete garage floor we laid the boats on loose PVC piping that we got from Home Depot, (about $8 bucks). We just put the pipes on the floor and put the boat on them, ( so the lowest point of the boat was around 1/2” above the garage floor). I don’t recall the exact size of PVC we used on the revo’s, ( might have been 1 1/2 pvc)
We could drag the boat around the garage on the pvc easily.
On your trailer just put some loose pvc on the trailer, ( no need to attach to the trailer, unless you want to later, making something permanent) in those grooves on 11” centers. And place the boat on the pvc. The boat will be fine.
We also used that same pvc for car topping on our suv.
On our TI’s we used 1 1/2 dia pvc coated wood closet poles ($10 bucks ea at home depot). Just loose on the roof, trapped in the groove and on top of the suv factory roof rack when strapped down.
Lol I swear we tried pretty much every brand of rooftop kayak pads and wings, every one of them dented our hull in the hot florida sun.
Hope this helps
