Finally got my landing gear installed on my PA 14. It was a monster to install. We finally used fishing line and a customized clothe hanger to get the bottom plate installed. I will post pics tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I finally got an opportunity to attach some photos. The landing gear bracket is secured by a threaded plate that must be installed inside the Kayak. I had my buddy who stands 6’ 5” stretch his hand inside the kayak and he could barely reach where the holes had been drilled. We had to use fishing line and a metal hook made from a clothes hanger (pic attached) to install the mounting bracket. I love the set up but it was extremely challenging to install. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Here is the hook we fabricated in order to hold the plate in place. ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I wanted to see if the rudder and skeg would drag. And it doesn’t. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thanks, I think they do. The kit includes a longer middle bar to fit the width of the PA. It’s an awesome set up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The product is good, although it's extremely difficult to install. The problem is that the people at this company are AWFUL to customers. I ordered a small box of bolts and knuckle hardware from them. The first problem was that they charged $43 to ship a small box from North Carolina to my house in CT. That's absurd. The next issue is that when I needed to return a couple of the parts, my email to customer service was ignored for a week. When they finally did reply, this is what I was told: "To be honest I would try to sell what you do not need because I am going to explain our return policy. You send back the parts that you do not need and once they arrive we inspect them; upon inspection we issue a refund of the product price minus a $25.00 restocking fee" So yeah - good product, but terrible to install, and the company doesn't seem to care about the customers. I'd buy something else if I could do it all again. |

I’ve heard of some issues with this system... has anyone had their PA12 crack from the landing gear? |

Yeah I have love hate relationship with BooneDox. I bought the 1st gen for my 2015 PA12. The bolts were too short was the first problem I encountered. After two weeks trying to install them I gave up. Boonedox shipped me longer bolts, but they were not stainless and started to rust out-lol! That was strike two. A few years later a post on their website caught my eye. They stated if your using the 5" plates that come with the 1st gen you will void your warranty due to the cracking issue. No recall issued or notification to their customers-gee thanks Boonedox. I upgraded to the 9" plates, they sent me the wrong ones-lol got my address wrong twice. The only thing good is I made a rigging bullet with a Yak Attack rigging bullet and some cable. The upgrade was finally done. Was it worth all the hassle? No! The key to using the landing gear is don't overload your kayak! |

Mine rotted out. Plus they broke at the welded piece that slides into the bar. Wasted mone6 for me.. |

Yep, they can be tough to install but they are worth it. I still have two, one with extra beach wheels and they work great. Stopped at their place of business one time. Really nice people who will help with any issues. |
