Post subject:  Side imaging transducer limitations

I’ve been fishing in an Outback for 10 years and finally upgraded to a PA 12. Deciding on Depth finder now, side imaging and map creation are essential and I’m leaning towards Humminbird or Garmin over Lowrance. I see a transducer adapter is available for Humminbird but that states side imaging may be impacted. Is this relevant to the 2019 model or prior ? I’m hoping this limitation was addressed with the new model changes and I’m able to use Garmin or Humminbird side imaging as well, would like conformation before deciding.

I’m a little late to the party, but don’t limit yourself by mounting the transducer on the bottom of your PA 12.
Attach it from the very rear transom H-rail. Then you can have side imaging all you want, as well as run your kayak up into the launch shallows without concern of dragging the hull mounted transducer.

If you fish shallow water as your transducer would drag the bottom, then you don't need a fishfinder...
