Hi all, I have a PA12 and modified a watersnake trolling motor to fit in mirage drive, while it works well I still like have fins so I often take out watersnake, resinsert mirage drive and repeat...kind of clumsy. I an thi king of getting a second trolling motor that would be side mounted in rear on mount made to fit in rod holders in yak....by biggest is concern is tracking straight with trolling motor off to one side. Anyone with a side mounted motor have issues keeping yak straight? |

No, the boat won't track straight with the motor mounted on one side. But you can easily correct this by doing two things: 1. Mount the motor either as close to the bow, or to the stern, as possible. 2. Manually maintain slight rudder mis-alignment to correct and maintain straight, or better yet, dial in a slight angle to the motor mounting position to automatically correct for straight. This usually only takes a couple degrees or so. |

Thanks Tom, Kinda what I thought. The motors I am looking at are 17 - 23 lbs, are these too heavy do you think for side mount? Also, has anyone figured out how to use a power pole and rear mounted trolling motor transom on rear of yak at same time? |
