Does anyone know if there is a template available for installing a Hobie front hatch seal? I know Hobie provides them for the 2019 Outbacks that didn't have the seals already installed from the factory. I have already installed a front hatch seal once on my 2016 PA14 but apparently I didn't install it in the right spot since the two ends didn't meet up (they were about an inch short of meeting together) and the front hatch will fill up with water in larger swells. Don't want to make the same mistake twice. |

71707004 FRONT HATCH SEAL, PA12/14/17T https://static.hobiecat.com/item_attachments/FRONT_HATCH_SEAL_PA12-14-17T_v2.pdf No template as it simply lines up with the inside edge. |

I did follow the edge. If I knew how to attach a pic I have one that shows how I installed they hatch seal. |

You bought that kit? Must have been short, so ask your dealer for a replacement via warranty. Should have had 6.92 feet of the seal. |

Mr. Miller I wanted to provide some feedback. I've been hearing numerous folks rant about how the front hatch on their Pro Angler 14 leaks even with the hatch seal gasket installed on the lid. Read about it from folks on a fishing forum and talked to the folks at my local Austin Canoe and Kayak (ACK) and they're telling me they hear similar feedback. I consider myself pretty handy and can figure out lots of issues but installing the gasket on the hatch lid so that it lines up perfectly is far from easy IMO as well as the opinion of lots of other folks including one installer at ACK. If you're off 1/4" one way or the other the center of the hatch seal gasket will not properly mate with the hatch base gasket and therefore will leak in situations where water comes over the bow which in a Pro Angler 14 only takes about a 1.5 foot wave. Given that at least on my PA14 the base mold of the hatch isn't straight (has a slight wave to it) there are several factors that create a lot of room for error when installing a hatch seal gasket on the lid of a Pro Angler 14. Perhaps the hatch seal gasket for the Pro Angler 14 should be a larger gasket to help ensure the gasket will mate with the base seal gasket and prevent water from coming in. The time I have spent trying to remedy the leaking front hatch on my PA14 is frustrating. I can understand why others are frustrated too. Since there are numerous Pro Angler owners having issues I wanted to pass this along. |
