Hello fellow fisherman. I am strongly considering biting the bullet and purchasing the Hobie EVOLVE Torqeedo Motor Kit i-Series v2. I will be using it mainly for trolling lakes for trout. What is the minimum speed of this motor on a PA14? I usually troll slow 1.5-2.5 MPH. Is this motor capable of going that slow? |

Infinite adjustment. Yes, it will troll very slowly. |

Can it be mounted to the rear of a Hobie PA 14? If yes what parts do I need? |

You can’t mount an Evolve on the back of a PA. It only fits in the Mirage drive well on the PA. A better option is to purchase a Torqeedo 403 directly from Torqeedo. It mounts easily to the rear, can attach to the steering drum so you can control the rudder and the motor at the same time giving you the ultimate in steering. It kicks up if you hit something where the Evolve does not. You have infinite speed control. You can troll for several days with the larger battery and it is less expensive. I have a PA 14 and the 403 is perfect for this yak. |

FYI I saw a couple of videos on YouTube from ICAST where Torqeedo is coming out with a bigger motor. I think it's an increase from 1 hp to 3 hp. At that time I believe the expect release date was early 2020. |

You are right and it will REALLY be a game changer. It will be the most powerful engine that I’m aware of on the Kayak motor marketplace. I think it is 1000 watt as compared to the 400 watts that the 403 uses so it will use more power but it will be much faster and stronger. However, the 403 with the larger battery does a great job and you can go all day ( and many go several days) without using up a charge. |

Hello all im hopping this post is still being seen. I am looking into getting a MIRAGE REVOLUTION 16 and want the HOBIE EVOLVE drive to replace the rudder. I see though that torqeedo now has 3hp. is that lower unit that holds the motor something you can purchase and use on the hobie rudder? thank you so much for any insight and/or help you can offer |

I don't know the specific answer to your question but my guess is no due to the weight. However the new Torqeedo 1103C (3 hp) will not be a good fit for your Revo 16 IMO. The 16 already sits really low in the water and takes on water in the tank well in swells. Adding about 40 lbs to the back of the kayak will make it take on much more water and in my mind a dangerous situation especially if you fish offshore. That kayak is so fast the Torqeedo 403 will be plenty for that kayak in my opinion. At 20 lbs. it's still a considerable amount of weight to add to the back of the kayak and will reduce your rear tank well capacity. Also the 403 can be used with your existing rudder. |

The only Torqeedo currently available as a rudder mount is the Evolve v2. I have one mounted this way on my 2-person Oasis. It has plenty of power and with the larger 915wh battery it has great range. The motor adds 10 lbs to the rudder. The battery can be mounted in the bow for balance and adds another 10 lbs, or 13 lbs for the 3x bigger battery. The heavier (21 lb) and more powerful Torqeedo 1103 motor pylon would be too heavy and way too much thrust for a twist-and-stow rudder mount. Peter |

Peter I don’t think the rear rudder mount can be used on a Pro Angler. It is better and cheaper to just get a Torqeedo 403 or 1103 for the rear mount. They come with a mount that is easy to install. |

My comments were in response to and are applicable to SeanRMelvin’s recent inquiry in this thread, not the original poster. Quote: Hello all. im hopping this post is still being seen.
