My front handle on my PA14 cracked away from the plastic a while back while unloading it. Today it finally just came out. I’ve tried welding but it’s just to soft. Think of finding stiff Cage wire like for a rabbit cage or something and cutting a hole in that to weld to. Anyone have experience with this issue? |

Maybe a thru-bolt and some kind of backing plate embedded in a sealant compound would work? |

That option crossed my mind as well. Plan on digging through the Home Depot stock Saturday. I may just drill one of the rope Hobie handles into the top until I get it sorted so I can still use my Boonedox setup. |

I think Matt has the best solution. Use stainless or aluminum backing plate. You may need a plate on the inside and one on the outside of the hull (the one on the outside would go between the hull and the handle) depending on the condition of the plastic after you've worked with it. 3M 5200 is really good at adding a secondary layer of security and sealing your holes up at the same time. https://www.amazon.com/3M-05203-Marine- ... 1188&psc=1 |
