Post subject:  PA 17t Questions

Hey I have 2 questions and would appreciate an answer:

1. I have read that trolling motor size for the PA17t is 55lb. Is this correct or can something bigger be attached?

2. I want to buy lube for the mirage drive from my hardware store, can you advise what kind of lube to buy?

Thanks!

We recommend Hobie Lube which is a mineral oil base with a penetrating and adhesion to parts property.

You can use a variety of lubes. Silicone will work.

Thanks for your response.

Is this better than the one I originally mentioned?

4 oz. Fast Acting Penetrant Drip Oil

Also, can you comment regarding the trolling motor size?

Some petroleum based lubes or tooling lubricants can damage plastics, so stay away from those. Thread cutting oils can really break down Delrin, so try to stay natural if possible. WD 40 is good.

We have / had a 50" 80 pound thrust trolling motor for the 17.

72020120 TROLLING MOTOR Xi5 50" FRESH (one left showing in stock $1,219)

I assume you posted twice accidentally. Did you mean 55 pound thrust or 80?

As far as lube goes, I have tons of WD-40. Just wasn’t sure if I could’ve used it in this application. Thanks for clarifying. After about how many uses would you recommend spraying some WD-40?
