Looking to get a Hobie kayak for my 16yo son. Found a good deal on a used PA14-2018 model comes with fish finder paddles and 1-2 rod holders. Other option is to get him a new 2021 Compass with no extras for now. I can’t decide since both are similar in price. So I came in here to take a poll, let me know what you think and Thank you! |

All things being equal I would go with the Pro Angler however it totally depends on how your son will use it and his transport options. Although I've heard of people doing it, in my opinion the Pro Angler is much too heavy to try to transport on top of a car, so I would only go with it if he can put it in the bed of a pickup or transport it on a trailer. It truly is the "Cadillac" of fishing kayaks with tons of storage and awesome stability but it isn't as portable as other models. |
