I have been working on my trailer ( new lights etc) for my HOBIE 16 and would like to know if hull cradles are necessary to distribute hull weight . They cost $300 new. Any input appreciated. ![]() |

First, I upgraded my cat trax with cradles. So much easier to use, so much more gentle on the H18. Next, I bought double rollers for the rear of the trailer, and bought cradles for the front, like they do on Tiger trailers. Funny thing is that since then, I have not had a chance to visit other sailing spots, so I can not tell you what the results are. Anyone else care to comment? |

I don't think cradles are necessary for a 16. 18's can develop flat spots if on rollers for too long. Tigers are cored on the bottom so cradles are a requirement. If your boat is new and you are a serious racer get the cradles, otherwise your ok without them. I would invest in cradles for your beach wheels as it makes the whole effort easier. |
