Looking for some information on sailing in Lake Champlain. I will be camping on Knight Island (just off North Hero) for 3 nights with my Hobie 16. Will be launching from Kill Kare State Park. I am looking for any info on places to beach near downtown Burlington. Looking to head in for lunch, and just looking for a safe location to stash the boat for a few hours. The community boathouse may be an option, but I was just looking to see if anyone had any other ideas. Walking didtance to downtown would be a plus. Thanks for any info. Ray |

Try North Beach. This is a campground just off of North Avenue in Burlington. This is a sandy beach. The beach is just off the bike path. Follow the bike path into Burlington. |

Hi Mudsliders, I have launched from Kill Kare quite a few times this year. Great spot. Winds can seem mild at first blush, but get out just a bit sometimes and Wham! Just an fyi, don't sail between Kill Kare and that little island between Kill Kare and Burton. Very shallow, whacked my rudder pretty good there once. http://www.vtstateparks.com/pdfs/inlandseaweb.pdf Have a great trip! Todd |
