I'm an OK sailor. Mediocre at best. But I'm pretty much a freak when it comes to all things wood. I made a mast caddy for my FXone that worked very well. Supports the mast well, and fits into the contours of the rear beam so it doesn't move around. The Hobie Tiger shares the same mast, and beam extrusions as the FXone. A local Tiger sailor admired my mast caddy and asked me to whip one up for him. Being a bit of a perv, and wishing that I had done this for my own I made these for him:

He hasn't seen them yet, I know he visits the forum. I hope he like them, they were fun to make.

BTW- If the moderators don't like this post, let me know and I'll delete it, or you can delete it yourselves. I understand.

Do I sense a cottage industry in the making ?

You've even already named it

B(r)est Mast Caddy.

It will probably be more popular with skippers rather than crew's.

Also might make a 3rd brake light more necessary.

I forgot to add, IF you are interested in one, probably about $200. I've got more time than I care to admit to into making this one. Honestly the pics don't do it justice either.

jeez, Cooley for president, he can mis-quote with the best of em' :D

My girlfriend was thinking I should do a full sized woman holding the mast up for the mast crutch. Now, that would be fricken cool.

When you say "Karl, you rock" do you really mean "Karl, your a sick ass perve who should have his own magazine and pay-per view website"?

Nicely done Karl.

I made a support like someone else showed here from a trailer bow V that I cut in half and drilled for a roller. I found my mast can easily roll off the side of the roller, since the roller sides are not steep or tall enough.

Seeing your support, reminded me I need to go back to the drawing board. I want something little more durable than painted wood.

My "Storpedo" warhead is bigger than your mast cradle if you know what I mean!

Glass it. Or cut it out of styrofoam and glass that. All things I considered. Wood is just easy.

Karl...

"YOU ROCK" in a GOOD way...LOL. Boobage is a GOOD thing, except it causes extra wear on my hull bottoms due to frequent beaching to enjoy the scenery. And yes, you DO deserve a pay-per-view site. Now, if just next summer would hurry up and get here......( . Y . ) :D

I'm surprised no one has asked yet if she modelled for this.
