We've been developing this product over the past year and finally got it dialed in. I don't have a cool name for it yet, and would like to present it here first for feedback.

It does solve a minor tiller problem. The hinge yoke assy. (where the tiller attaches to the center of the crossbar) always has slop. If you tighten the bolt up too much the yoke doesn't rotate. Too loose and the tiller has a ton of slop, which bends the bolt, doesn't have a positive feel, and eventually wallows out the crossbar. This product allows you to tighten the bolt independently from the yoke. The yoke rotates on a small bushing that is machined into the yoke itself. They will fit every Hobie and any other cat that uses that style tiller. It's 316 stainless.

They will eventually sell for around $16.

try to bring back the KISME tiller connectors and make it a whole package

The ridiculous part of it is that the bushing is the most expensive part to manufacture. So the yoke and the matched busing would probably be around $10. The stock Hobie bolt is a little too short, but I guess people could just go to the hardware store and pick up a stainless 1/4" 20. The one that comes with the Hotstick is perfect, so if people have upgraded, then its a straight swap. I would also just offer the bushing, but the thickness of the stamped yoke varies. As it is now, each yoke is matched to a bushing, installed and double checked for proper movement.

Hey JB. No problem. It will be good to get a few hardcores like yourselves trying them out. We've had one on an actively raced 20 and a Tiger here in Div 3 pretty much the entire summer. And I gave one to Thomas back in the summer, but I don't know if he's installed it yet. And I installed 2 more on a couple of 16's. It will be good to get you guys as my guinea pigs. :lol:

When competing at the Alter Cup in 2008 I thought the Capricorn F18's tiller/tiller X-bar/rudder arm connection system was pretty good...twisting plastic/urethane pieces that had a positive lock with no slop anywhere. But the design is somewhat suspect from a robustness side. Good to see you doing some innovation Jeremy.

I'm always tinkering with something, this one just happened to work really well. My friend Karl who actually started this whole project is a machinist and he's very good at making things work better.

This will work on any Nacra, Prindle, Sol Cat or whatever else uses this type of connector.
