I understand that a Hobie Fleet is for Hobie cat sailors but here is my question. If an organization is called say "Local Catamaran Sailors" and supports Darts, Nacras, Hobies etc, can the Hobie sailors within that group form a fleet? |

Right now we are completely Hobie focused but in our corner of the world there aren't alot of us out here. We have enough members to make a Hobie Fleet and are registered with the HCA-NA. My thought is, to keep our roots but open it up to other classes. I know about 5 or more years ago HCANA made a move to remove all non-Hobie classes from the fleets. I'm not suggesting this is changed only that I create a club on top of another (I guess thats the best way to explain it) to still be within the rules and still be associated with HCA-NA. |

You can have non hobies in your racing with approval 2 or 3 races a year. But not at a "Fleet" sponsored race. So a local sailing center putting on a race , or yacht club race you can have Hobie and non hobie racing. Just have to be separate starts. As far as fleet members anyone can be a fleet member. |
