For everyone’s enjoyment I’ve posted the links below to a two part interview article profiling Hobie Alter that was published in the May and June 2001 issues of Composites Fabrication Magazine. I came across this series of articles and found them interesting. I believe others on this forum may enjoy them as well. They are currently hosted by the American Composites Manufactures Association web site. Links below. Part 1 - May 2001 http://www.acmanet.org/cm/historical/documents/Alter_Hobie%20Part%201.pdf Part 2 - June 2001 http://www.acmanet.org/cm/historical/documents/Alter_Hobie%20Part%202.pdf |

On a related note, Sailing Anarchy posted an excellent 3-part interview series with Hobie Alter, Jr. http://www.sailinganarchy.com/article.php?get=3084 (part 1) http://www.sailinganarchy.com/article.php?get=3111 (part 2) http://www.sailinganarchy.com/article.php?get=3158 (part 3) Hobie Alter is just such a brilliant, cool, and overall nice guy. Few people can claim to have had a significant, lasting impact on a broad number of disciplines they way Hobie Alter did. And now, in his retirement, he's supposedly working on some golfing gear. I personally think that golf is the dullest "sport" ever. But you've gotta give it to Alter for having the guts to go for yet another sport. |
