We go to Tortola every year, and we beach it and always pay to go out on a catmaran for the day. The winds seem fearce in this area of the world, but I was curious if any of you all sail this area? Also, anyone ever Bare Boat? The Moorings is the hottest spot in the Caribbean to Bare Boat, skippers from afar rent a boat, fill them up with provisions and go. Just an amazing part of the world, the water is so aqua blue... Lisa ![]() |

My brother owns a Nautitech 47 Cat. We go down every year. This year Sept 22-Oct 4. We were just talking about how cool it would be to have our H18's there. Were going to check in to buying one and leaving it where his boat is in Road Harbor. Sam |

Lisa, I lived in St.Thomas USVI for 3 1/2 years and did tons of sailing between the VI's (St.Thomas, St. Croix, St.John and the BVI) on a 16. It's an amazing place to sail. Take care and have a Hobie day! ![]() |

Raced Hobie 16's in Puerto Rico and sailed Hobie Waves at Virgin Gorda (BEYC) which was a blast, plenty of wind if you wanted it or sheltered if you're a beginner / intermediate sailor. Also cruised in the islands on a 44' Lagoon. If you like wind the Caribbean is the place to be. |

A couple of years ago, we got lucky and picked up a week of time share in Antigua, on a 52 foot cat. (5 double cabins, that is four couples and the skipper and his first mate/wife.) Like the BVI, there can be good WIND. At our first stop, I rented a Hobie 15 off the beach, and we had a blast. The next day, we sailed past Club Corona, (you will see their ads in the sailing magazines. Besides the hotel and the pool, blah blah, they run a fleet of Hobie 15's, Lasers and 420's. Sailing is included). I wish we could have stopped off there for a couple of weeks. Yup, trade wind sailing on the ocean blue is fantastic and wonderful and terrific. On another trip, when we visited St Thomas, we chose to go snorkelling instead of sailing. Anyone still have that YouTube link to the Wave/Getaway races in USVI or BVI? When is the next one? I wanna be there! |

I'm glad to hear everyone else's great stories. I got my H18 last summer and I'm hooked for life. A friend and I are planning to charter a boat in the BVI early next year through Moorings. Sounds like we're on the right track. |

I have sailed off Antigua. Funny wind conditions. Two strong wind currents competing with each other creates some weird "wind eddies". Great water, fun place. |
