So, over the weekend, I bought a 83 H18 that has the 80 Nationals Jalapeno sails on it. My question is, did Hobie sell the national sail patterns for more than just one year? |

"Nationals" sails were typically only for the number of boats provided at the events. You can see the sail offerings (by year) in Matt Bounds sail history pages: http://www.hobiecat.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=12896 |

Matt, That is what I thought. I have seen that PDF many times. The boat is an 83b I believe. Now, I am going to have to pull out the sails again, but I know there are 2 dark green panels between a lime green panel and yellow panel with white above and below. Also, the jib is matching. I will verify this evening and post photos. Sam |

Looking at your first post again... "Jalapeno" was not just a nationals color. It was a standard color option in 1982 - 83. |

Some of the Nationals sail colors became established sail patterns. Also, the chart shows only the first year patterns were offered. For example, the Tequila Sunrise sails were made for many years after they were first introduced. |

So, if a Nationals pattern has a name, it might have been offered for multiple years? That splains it. Looks like I got me one hot banana pepper. see the "show me your H18s" thread towards the bottom. http://www.hobiecat.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=15180 although it is not really a banana like the 14 I picked up for free and have not posted pictures yet. How many years were the sail colors available? My sail is a "Blue Hawaii" and I have seen so many "Tequila Sunrise" sails over the years. |

As far as how long they were offered by the factory? That vaired greatly by color. Some went on for a few years. Others only a year. Dealers would often mix and match with boats, so some dealers might have had those sails for another year or so. Tequila Sunrise looks to have been offered from 80-84 Blue Hawaii 83-85 |

Not sure if you noticed, but Matt posted a second link for the 17s and 21s Part 2 http://www.hobiecat.com/support/pdfs/SailColorHistory-2.pdf |
